This year, the programme will support six organisations based in the Midlands and North of England, with a particular focus on groups nurturing emerging talent and creating pathways for young people to develop their creativity, confidence and musical skills.

CULTIVATE is designed to help grassroots organisations strengthen their capacity, deepen inclusive and youth-centred practice, expand access to high-quality music opportunities and build connections across a national network of organisations and professionals.

Selected organisations will receive a £3,000 micro-grant to support programme delivery, alongside tailored organisational development support, access to industry expertise, free places on Sound Connections training events in 2026–27, mentoring, peer networking and opportunities for young people to perform at WIRED UP.

The programme is open to grassroots organisations that are already delivering or developing music activity with young people, are committed to inclusive and accessible practice and are working within communities to create meaningful progression routes. Applicants must have existed for at least four years, have a turnover of up to £100,000, and have a registered address and delivery activity in the Midlands or North of England.

Applications close at 5pm on Friday 10 July 2026, with applicants due to be notified of the outcome by Friday 31 July.

CULTIVATE is supported by The Ed Sheeran Foundation.
